Trapped

We think of flowers as so beautiful. (Of course, they are!) “Colorful,” “soft”, and, yes “feminine,” are words that sometimes seem to apply. (But “bisexual” might be a better characterization.)

Up close, this opening dahlia blossom is certainly beautiful in a slightly translucent way. But the flower is also frightening. If I were sized to scale, for example a honey bee, I’m sure I’d worry that the trap was about to close, even as I was irresistibly drawn inwards.
