Morning in Yosemite and an Easter Egg

This is a photo of early morning in Yosemite Valley from Leidig Meadow looking towards Cathedral Rock and Spires on my February visit with Julian.

It is also the eight hundredth entry in my Photoblog 2.0. So here’s an Easter Egg for you: Somewhere in this image is 800 (not 300, 800!). The first reader of Photoblog 2.0 who contacts me with the location and form of the 800 in the image gets a free signed, archival 8X10″ Harold Davis print (value $150). (Image to be chosen by the winner.)

Hints: Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees. And not all numerals are Arabic.

In the beginning: Ducks (May 6, 2005).

Update: anystrom (see comment) has found the correct answr, and this contest is closed. Congratulations, anystrom, and what great eye sight!

Well, the closest thing I see are the dark conifers in a “VIII” shape at the center of the image. Some splotches of sky could pass as “0 0,” although I don’t really see anything convincing that looks like a hundred.

Close enough? Or am I totally off?

@Nate: No, not quite. I will post the winning response, so unless you see it here, keep looking…

I think I may have found the answer… I’ll see if I can explain what I see. I see a “C” to the left of the trunk of the large tree on the left about halfway up the tree. I see another “C” directly to the right of the first one in the branches between two trees. Finally, I see an “M” still further to the right between the deciduous and coniferous trees. CCM = 800.

  5. Matthew Says:

Technically CCM can’t be 800. DCCC would be more appropriate:
