We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance (sometimes called trip insurance). This not only covers you for the cost of the trip should you need to cancel, but also provides important safeguards such as coverage of medical expenses while abroad.

Note that there can be advantages to purchasing travel insurance in a timely fashion. For example, if you are a California resident and you purchase your insurance within 21 days after you’ve paid the initial deposit, you will be covered for pre-existing conditions. Regulations and terms do vary, so be sure to check with your policy provider and read the offering carefully.

You are free to buy your travel insurance from whomever you’d like. We’ve had good experiences with Travel Insured International (opens in new window).
